When you are settling into life in another country, it is not always clear what kind of support you need—or where to look for it.
Sometimes you want to talk through a situation. Sometimes you already know what you need and just want to find an organisation to contact.
BaltHUB brings together two separate tools for Ukrainians in Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania: the TWIIN digital assistant Lachin and a directory of services and contacts. Here is how to choose where to start.
Want to talk things through? Start with Lachin
You do not need a carefully worded question. You can describe your situation in everyday language, by voice or text.
For example:
“I’ve recently moved and have so many things to sort out. How can I decide what to do first?”
Lachin can offer support, explain things in simpler terms and help you think through a possible next step. You can ask a follow-up question or request a shorter explanation.
Looking for a service? Open the contact directory
If you need a specific organisation or service, use the directory. It is separate from the conversation with Lachin—you do not need to chat first.
There are two ways to access it.
On the BaltHUB website
Open the catalogue, select a country and browse the available services and organisations. You can also use the search to narrow down what you are looking for.
Browse the directory on the website.
Through the Telegram bot
Open the bot and follow the menu to choose a country, city and type of service.
The Telegram bot helps you search the directory. It is not the same as the open-ended conversation with Lachin.
Open the directory in Telegram.
How do the two tools work together?
You might begin by describing your situation to Lachin, then open the directory yourself to look for relevant support.
Or you might skip the conversation and go straight to the directory because you already know what you need.
Once you find a relevant listing, contact the organisation directly to check whether its services match your situation, what the conditions are and how to arrange support. A listing is a starting point for getting in touch, not a confirmed appointment.
A starting point—not a replacement for professional help
Lachin can help you begin a conversation and consider a next step. It can make mistakes and does not replace a doctor, lawyer, psychologist or emergency service.
Keep the tools close at hand
Save the website or the Telegram bot so you can return when you need them:
You do not have to figure everything out at once. Start with a question—or with the service you need.
