On 20 June, the world marked World Refugee Day – a day of solidarity with people who have been forced to leave their homes in search of safety and a new life. For the RefAid BaltHUB team, it is also an important reminder: support must be available exactly when people need it. When someone finds themselves in a new country, it is essential to have access to clear information, safe services and people who can help without judgement or unnecessary barriers.
Moving to another country is not only a new route on the map. It brings hundreds of practical questions: where to get help, how to find the right organisation, where to turn for support with documents, health, treatment, social services or assistance in a crisis situation. It becomes especially difficult when answers are needed quickly, while the system around you is new, unfamiliar and often operates in another language.
That is why the RefAid team continues working to make support for Ukrainian refugees in Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia closer, clearer and more accessible.
We are here. We hear your needs. And already this summer, together with Alliance for Public Health and TWIIN, we are preparing to launch an updated version of our website with new digital solutions for timely support.
What will be available soon?
Digital assistant
It will help people quickly find answers to important questions about life in the Baltic States: HIV, sexual and reproductive health, substance use, available services, documents, registration procedures and other practical issues.
A contact and services directory in four languages
This will be a convenient tool where people can find organisations, addresses, phone numbers and other contact information depending on the country, city and need.
A Telegram bot with a built-in database of contacts and services
Another fast way to access the information people need across the three Baltic States — directly on their phone, in a convenient format and without unnecessary barriers.
For us, digital solutions are not just about technology. They are a way to bring support closer to people at the very moment they need it most.
RefAid team continues to develop a support system where a person can receive not only information, but also a sense that they are not left alone with their questions.
Stay with us. We are here and we continue working for you.
